Digital security for MENA activists
A digital security guide for activists in the Middle East and North Africa (Arabic language)
“Freedom of expression in the Middle East and North Africa is under severe pressure, as governments persecute anyone who expresses opinions they disagree with. However, human rights defenders and activists across the region continue to stand courageously to defend people’s rights and fundamental freedoms, despite being exposed to digital threats such as harassment, violence, defamation, phishing attacks and spyware that put their lives at risk. Target groups include journalists, online commentators, and human rights defenders who demand the rights of women, the LGBT community, and marginalized communities. These rights are guaranteed under international human rights law.”
Om Sleiman Farm
“Since 2016, Om Sleiman Farm has been more than just a Community Supported Agriculture farm; it's been a vital space for Palestinian connection to the land while reclaiming spaces of imagination through collective resistance and regeneration. The work of Om Sleiman Farm serves as a vital link to Palestinians and the land, emphasizing the collective effort to (re)establish means of resistance.”
London for Sudan
“London For Sudan is formed of Sudanese diaspora and allies that strive to amplify the voices of the Sudanese people and support the efforts for peace, justice and stability in Sudan. It was created in late 2023 as a response to the calls on social media to #KeepEyesOnSudan and #TalkAboutSudan. They aim to raise awareness on what’s happening in the country through protests, vigils, digital activism, and political advocacy.”
